International travel can pose various risks to health, depending both on the characteristics of the traveler and on the nature of travel. These risks include sudden changes in altitude (including air travel), humidity, temperature and infection, infestations, which can cause ill-health. All travellers should seek medical advice on the potential hazards in their chosen destinations and understand how best to protect their health and minimize the risk of acquiring disease.

Business Health Ireland provides a range of travel health services including pre-travel consultations, travel vaccinations and post-travel medical reviews. Whether you are traveling for work or for leisure, we aim to help to make your travel abroad a safe and enjoyable experience. Business Health Ireland has a full supply of various travel related vaccines on site to cater to your needs.

Medical Advice

The World Health Organization suggests that travel consultation should take place at least four to eight weeks before the journey and preferably earlier if long-term travel or overseas work is envisaged. However, last-minute travelers can also benefit from a medical consultation. Such consultations will determine the need for any vaccinations and/or anti-malarial medication and identify any other potential medical issues that need to be addressed.

It is strongly advised that travelers with underlying medical conditions consult a travel medicine prior to their travel to ensure that their potentially complex travel health needs are met.
